Kinetic West is a 14-person social impact consulting firm based in Seattle, Washington. We have been working with clients in the non-profit, philanthropic, government, education, and private sectors since 2017.
Our clients are based in Washington and across the country, including in Oregon, Alaska, Montana, Georgia, Texas, and Maryland. They include organizations like the Gates Foundation, the Washington State Department of Commerce, Prince George’s County (MD) Public Schools, Reach Higher Montana, Career Ready Atlanta, Educate Texas, City of Seattle, and the ACLU of Oregon.

Overview of the Business Development and Marketing Coordinator
Kinetic West is seeking an innovative and experienced Business Development and Marketing Coordinator to support our team in identifying and responding to requests for proposal (RFPs), as well as market our brand of equity-forward social impact consulting. As we look to scale our impact and connect with new clients in policy areas like education, workforce development, housing and homelessness, economic development, environmental justice, and more, this role will be pivotal in transforming our team’s broad experience into winning proposals and a compelling brand presence that resonates with our diverse audience.
Contract Details
Role Type: Contract
Location: Seattle, WA, King County, or Remote
Compensation: To be determined based on final scope. We expect the contract size to be about $3,750/month
Contract Term: 6-12 month contract role, with potential for extension or to convert into a full-time staff role based on mutual interest
Time Commitment: We expect that this role will be approximately half-time, with some periods of higher or lower intensity over the course of 9 months
Benefits: This is a contract role and not eligible for benefits at this time
Key Responsibilities
RFP and project sourcing, and prioritization (25% of time)
Identifying and prioritizing potential RFPs and projects from subscription databases, newsletters, and other sources
Building our RFP sourcing list to increase the number of RFPs and project opportunities for consideration
Making initial “go / no go” recommendations for which RFPs Kinetic West should submit proposals
Maintaining and updating Kinetic West’s procurement profiles on all databases, including supporting maximizing SBE and DBE certifications
Identifying and recommending potential networking events and conference opportunities for Kinetic West staff to attend
Attending weekly meetings with the management team to align on project priorities and staffing
Proposal drafting (25% of time)
Create outlines and first drafts of RFP responses, drawing from our existing proposal library that the team can build upon
Kinetic West team will build out project approach and budget for all proposals
Proposal Management Support (30% of time)
Maintain and update Kinetic West’s business development tool library including:
“Best of Business Development” resource, which captures our highest quality proposals to date
“Qual Library” where we track projects and accomplishments that demonstrate our team’s capabilities and qualifications to clients
Team bios and resumes including individual project experience
Proposal Library, where we keep a comprehensive archive of our team’s previously submitted proposals
Initially you will manage these tools in partnership with a Kinetic West team members who currently oversee these libraries, but over time as you become more familiar with the role you would ultimately manage these independently.
Led by KW team member, role will help Kinetic West team explore ways to use AI tools to make proposal response drafting more efficient and effective.
Branding and marketing implementation (20% of time)
Taking the marketing strategy developed by Kinetic West and implementing elements to improve awareness of Kinetic West’s brand
Providing communications and networking recommendations (currently on our website, blog, and LinkedIn)
Tracking performance goals set by KW for our website, blog, social media, and other marketing materials. Report out at quarterly business reviews.
Writing case studies with project teams to create consistent and compelling content for our website, blog, and LinkedIn based on project work
This role will lead in creating first drafts of all content. Strong writing skills are needed
Working with our contracted designers to ensure marketing materials reflect overall brand
